Large vans have proven to be one of the fastest growing automotive sectors over the past five years, with growth being attributed to increasing numbers of home deliveries and the health of the construction sector. But which one is best for you and your business? Here is our take on the Top 5 Large Vans in the UK.
5 – Fiat Ducato
The Fiat Ducato’s fantastic payload and fuel economy means it just creeps into our Top 5. Unlike the other budget vans, like the Renault Master, the Fiat Ducato is quite refined too, although the residual values are quite poor.
4 – Iveco Daily
The Iveco Daily is the only large van with a truck chassis, which means its more than capable of taking big loads. Iveco’s aftersales care is also well respected for its long opening hours and breakdown assistance.
3 – Ford Transit
Just making the Top 3 cut is the Ford Transit. With its lower seating position, lower centre of gravity and funky interior, the Ford Transit is certainly the most car-like of the lot, but it’s heavy chassis leaves very little weight for payload.
2 – Volkswagen Crafter
In 2016, Volkswagen decided to bring large van manufacturing back in-house (Mercedes-Benz built VW’s large vans between 1996 and 2016) with an all-new production facility in Poland. It certainly seems to have paid off, with the new Crafter offering excellent ride and handling, practicality and low running costs.
Best large van in the UK – Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
There’s no question, however, about which wins our vote for the best large van. The Mercedes-Benz boasts unrivalled build quality and residual values in this sector, not to mention fantastic practicality and technology.
